Tasting notes:
It is only the second time since 2002 that Quinta do Zambujeiro has bottled an Especial. Three barrels of the best lots of the vintage were reserved for the wine as the quality clearly stood out of the rest, a rare essence of the estates vineyards. It resulted in an opaque and concentrated wine, with loads of sweet black fruit, Port like aromatics, massive structure of finest tannins, balanced by a hint of sweetness. It opens little by little with time in the glass and shows its full potential after some hours exposed to oxygen. It is a big wine for special moments, goes well with game and other meat or with black chocolates.
