13 May 20 years of special and unique wines
On May 4th, we lived the twenty years of Zambujeiro. A story that has been written every day throughout these 20 years with knowledge, precision and passion.
Quinta do Zambujeiro story might have never been written at all if it weren´t for the team : fully committed to tackle the project. It is a beautiful story, an amazing journey that began with the vision of its creator, Mr. Emil Strickler, shephered along the way by some of the most respected winemakers. Quinta do Zambujeiro has taken its rightful place in the pantheon of the Portuguese best wines. 20 years ago, Mr. Emil Strickler had the dream to provide winelovers a sumptuous drink and an unforgettable moment of joy and happiness in the glass. On the last Saturday, we had the honor and privilege to dive in the history of Quinta do Zambujeiro throughout a vertical tasting, which began in the 1999 vintage and ended in 2015 vintage. Beyond this great moment, this ephemeris still provided us a superlative wine “Quinta do Zambujeiro special anniversary, from the special harvest of 2016.” An outstanding experience, where the preservation of the fruit, the masterful composition of the aromas – primary, secondary and tertiary, perfectly blended, after going through a long love relationship with the barrel, became gorgeously refined, lovely age-worthy; saturated dark red, deep, dense, aromatic, strong. Concentrated on the palate; aromas of black plum, violets, licorice and chocolote. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins balanced with a fresh acidity that gives the persistent finish. A lifetime experience that will be printed in the memory of those who had the opportunity to undergo this journey.
There are too many memories to remember and there’s always too little time to talk when big talkers are in the room. These memoirs are the tip of the iceberg and our story is ready to be told. We have given that a shot on May 4th, with an outstanding anniversary celebration.
The May 4th festivities featured a fantastic piano show with the famous rock n roll star Nico Brina, swiss grilled sausages, raclette, along with the best alentejano cuisine that came out from the great “ Cozinha do Sr. Manel”.
An unforgettable life experience that celebrates the past of these 20 glorious years and that opens the door for the next 20.
